Ok, so yesterday was the Disney romp, now I suppose it's time for the Pajaro Dunes pics.

We had left Thursday night, a few hours after I got off of work. I hardly had time to really pack stuff, so shorts and blankets really. Janette came by, we packed up and headed off.

Janette driving us to our destination.

While she drove, her friends and I were trying to figure out her GPS system that her dad let her borrow. We named her Carmen and she actually led us astray. Hell bent on making us use 80, we turned her off and continued on 5 without much of a hitch, save for the 50/5 connection. It took us roughly 3 hours to arrive at the place, and I'll admit it was kinda weird. We saw nothing but farmland for a long while. Even the road went through farm land.

Yeah, you'd figure we were still in the foothills in the central valley.

We got there at 850ish, and the sun was well on its way down, so we really couldn't see much from the outside. We stayed inside the place and just planned out for the next day. I shoulda taken a picture of the chair that was there, because it looked funky but was hella comfortable. Well anyways, in the morning we got up and we Strawberry Picking.

I woulda been in the picture myself, but it'd be nothing different then what you all see on tv. Well, we got enough, and headed back to the place we were staying at. We relaxed for a minute then headed out for the beach.

We actually went out to do some shell searching. How it works is we stand at the shoreline and kinda dig around with your feet.

So we got our shells, and hung around outside for a little more. Played in the sand mainly.

We rested inside some, then went back out to play some more.

We went back inside to eat. We made burritos, with what i don't remember, and after that we had a bonfire out on the beach with everyone who was there.

We went back inside, those dudes played Kings cup, and the rest played a frustratingly hard Monopoly card game. Went to sleep and woke up bright and early again for Kayaking. I never done that before, and damn it was fun.

Afterwards we hit up world renowed Phil's Fish market in Moss landing. Why is it famous? He was challenged by Bobby Flay himself for a throwdown in Cippino. 20 bucks a bowl, but it smelled hella good.

What we settled on.

We got back to the place and I took a nap. It looked like Janette got the kite to go up whilst I was asleep. When I got up, it was time for dinner and I bbq'ed pork chops. inside there was garlic bread and other stuff being created for the dinner. We hung out a little longer and finally it was time to sleep again.

What was done while everyone else was cooking.

Well, it became sunday, and it was time to go. I was up before anyone and I walked on the beach for a final time and ran across this gem.

A little disheartening, but it is nature, after all. We packed up and said our goodbyes, and finally left the place. I drove on the way back, and I decided that we oughta stop at Casa de Fruita which was on the way home. Mmm, that place brought back memories of our dad taking us there when we were younger. But there was a lot more there then I remember. We picked up some stuff, got on 5, and headed back home.

So, i'm foregoing rock band to actually write. I want to tell you all everything that has occurred within the past few weeks. I know I haven't made much of an effort to see most of you, but allow me to at least make it up with a picture post.

So, two weeks ago, Janette and i had decided on going to Disneyland. I woke up...about the butt crack of dawn at 530. We got to the airport, stood in a a short baggage line, got our boarding passes, and waited for our 7:40 plane. I had never been on a plane before, so I'll admit i was nervous. A mixture of Foo Fighters, Wu-Tang, and Jonathan Coulton helped a lot.

We landed, without a hitch, and took our shuttle to the hotel, which was about a block from Downtown Disney and Disneyland. We spent the after noon walking around DT Disney and I think i might have enoyed myself more then I should have.

Nuff said.

Wicked awesome arcade. Even a walk-in hockey rinnk (just for you adam) and a skeet shooting rage (for you majid)

Mmmmmm...

So we ate, walked around, and even saw Disney's Up. God that movie was sad. I mean it was good, but damn, i really was close to crying. We got back to the hotel room, napped, went out for dinner at DT disney, and finally slept.

The next morning, we got up, got ready, and arrived at Disneyland at about 8:30am. I can't say I've been there that early before, because I've never seen 5 minute wait lines.

Though it was second, hell yeah it was priority.

So yeah, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and even the Indiana Jones ride had smaller wait times....even though we used the hell out of fast track.

wait an hour, wait 15 minutes...hmmmmm...

So far the main downfall was actually getting stuck on a ride. Indiana Jones at that.

Seriously.

When we finally got out, the lines got longer so we fast tracked big rides and hopped on little ones. Even trying to take out Excalibur.

At 4pm, we headed out to California Adventure.

I'll sum it up with the next few pictures.

Man that was fun, and there were still a few more things we missed. We had to go back to Disneyland for the fireworks and Fantasmic. Too many shiny, for sure. And we finished it with another trip to Space Mountain.

I look better then it seems.

So that was the disney trip in a nutshell. There was more things we did, of course, but i figure ill give you the meat for now. You can ask me the rest later.

Tomorrow I'll write about the trip I had with Janette to Pajaro Dunes in Watsonville. But for now, i'll leave you with this:

I’m not much for saying anything about my job, but I must say, I’m here at work, and I ain’t doin shit. It’s roughly 1pm and I have yet to actually move papers and such. I spent about 3 hours getting IT to get my computer up and going, cause I don’t know how to install the latest (by a few years) xp service pack on here. Then I needed a particular program installed, and that didn’t even happen for another hour. At that point, I decided its time for my break, because I’m only allowed two, and they don’t want me to use then either combined or use them to just leave work early altogether. So with my break, I went downstairs to the farmers market thing with Art, waited 45 minutes for our crepes to be cooked, came back up here, ate, and this is where I’m at right now. I must say, there are indeed problems going on with the office and the state lately, but this just reaffirms those problems with my unit, mainly. My supervisor was on training all last week, and now she’s on vacation this week. It would have been fine otherwise, but she had decided to only give us 1 weeks worth of real work to be focused on. Since my unit is made primarily of students, I don’t know really what the other units are complaining about when we don’t have anything to do.
Maybe I’m trippin. Some of you would love to show up to work, where your co-workers don’t do much anyways, and sit on the internet and try to look busy when the boss walks by. Only thing is that this is accounting. And we have to push those numbers cause we need to take care of some hefty bills that were kinda dropped on us. But it’s all fun, right? I hope so. This unit needs to be reorganized, but I ain’t the one to do it. Mainly cause I don’t care about this. People literally go home worried about the work that needs to be done still, rather then assume “ it’ll be there tomorrow when I get in.” maybe its just my desire to see what happens if these people actually tried as opposed to knowing these people aren’t really doing much in the first place. Sure it’s important, but the real question is how much do we affect. For instance, before I moved units, I was doing work in paying actual contracts that were made with vendors that the water board has to collect for those vendors to use the water rights in those particular portions of land. Especially if the water is going to be contaminated in any way, shape, or form. Sound important, right? Well, my new unit isn’t anything like that. I’m just collecting money people have borrowed from us in different regions of the water board, statewide. Joy. You can then see why I’m even writing this.
I know I’m not the only student, tho. Actually, one of the other guys is an engineering major. He, too, is working in accounting. Yeah, I know. He could give a shit as to what is done with this money. The other one just kinda doesn’t care because his folks are pretty well off, and lives in elk grove. So although he’s working to gain experience, he really doesn’t need this job. Obviously me and the engineering major dude aren’t as lucky, hence why we’re here.
I really don’t care as much here, but I wouldn’t up and drop it either. I like what I do when I have actual work to do. Not only that it’s mindless, but it also gives me a chance to refocus my thoughts and see what it is I want to pursue in life. For instance, when I worked with my uncle, that was just to help family primarily. Unfortunately my uncle was corrupt enough that would make anyone vomit. Or when I worked for Rico’s, that was to have a real job and also get myself closer to DDR. So yes, it was a little selfish. At Jelly Belly, that was for money, but I didn’t care for that as much. Why else did you guys always see so much candy from me, that I did “take”. This one for sure was about money, but let’s see if an office job is for me. If it is, what kind do I want? This one seems to be doing some benefits for me, as I basically have my foot in the door of a state job, but it also enables me to see how things are like in this type of setting rather then imagine it on tv or in movies.
I’ll stick around for sure, but for now, I’ll go look for some

As I sit here in the Union while my other classmates have finished their outlines and gone home, I have noticed how comfortable it is in here. It turns out there's a tv up here that is dedicated to cable, and the game hapens to be on. Not only that, the chairs here really are comfortable enough to fall asleep in. I was skeptical at first, mainly because the ones in the library weren't any better, and these foot stools are awesome. The quiet hum of people discussing their work or personal issues makes you feel apart of something bigger. Like there's a bigger life-stream involved here. Ok, enough procrastinating. Time to finish up and go home. Our final is tomorrow, probably would be best to get some better rest.

im currently trying to stay positive by doing hw, but im sure writing on here may help.

So, my car is having problems lately. The transmission basically has been unable to shift normally in high gear. For instance, while going up a hill or speeding to get on the freeway and the car has to down shift, it'll stay in that gear until it'll redline unless I let go of the gas and allow the car to shift hard into gear.

Ok, so i know there's something wrong with that, and I took it to get it examined. I went to AAMCO first and had them do the inspection. They then explained to me that the soft parts in the transmission are wearing or are worn out. I should replace them as well as whatever other parts are affected by the worn parts. It makes sense and so i get a quote for how much it would be. For both parts and labor im looking at close to 3k, give or take a few hundred.

"Fuck that" was what i immediately thought, so after some advice from my uncle I looked up a pick-n-pull place to see about some used transmission that were available. The only one under 100k had about 83k on it, but the price tag was 800 bucks. Given the labor price to install, it would be roughly 1300 to get it swapped out.

Its at this point that i start to research as to why the shit still costs so much. There apparently are more parts for the GS-T for a reason. My GS wasn't supported that well because the 2.4l at the time wasn't easily accessible for aftermarket parts makers. With that said, my parts are on the rare side, so the price is so high because no one really makes the parts I need. Ugh.

Alright, so what next? Let's see about a trade in. I looked up some vehicles and tried to do the math at home before i left this morning. If I could have been able to get perfect settings, I could get an 8k car with roughly 100 a month payments. That's with apr ranging from 5 to 12 percent for 48 months. Ok, so I go to CarMax first and get my car appraised. They tell me that my car is worth 2k even. I kinda find that hard to believe, so i leave and go to another car lot in roseville where they had some stuff that peaked my interest. They then gave me an estimate that my car is worth 2700 tops. Sounding much better, I then begin to look around. I settled on a 2002 VW GTI. It was 7899 and had a 1.8l Turbo engine. It had 115k miles on it, but Using Luis' phone (who accompanied me) I looked up the KBB value of it, and it was 11k with 120k miles on it. Fine, so i gave it a test drive, felt real comfortable in it, and decided to go ahead and see how financing would work.

After an hour, we settled for the 7899 price if they also ate the gov't fees and warranty price. Ok, so now we figure out where to get the money from. I can't get anything from a Credit Union because my credit score is under 600 (hell, I didn't even know what I had, 534 apparently). Major banks don't want to pick me up because I don't make 1500 a month (obviously not full-time student friendly). And lastly, the minor banks that can offer me a loan want at minimum 250 a month with a 24% APR, and that's even with the trade in a 500 cash. After swallowing it in, I declined because it was way over budget, and I went home.

I know that I shouldn't be that depressed because I still have a vehicle that can work enough, but what i am affected is by how worthless I am on paper. Building my credit is one thing, but its hard to do so when i focus more time with school, and even then im a full time student so 1500 a month wouldn't necessarily make me a happy camper in the long run. I also damn sure I won't be made into a fool by entering a 24% APR deal with i know damn well I can get significantly lower, somehow.

I'll have to figure out how the means with a co-signer goes, unless I can find a relative that can get it entirely under their name...but that means I have to find one I can trust. Hah! There's also the not-so-popular route by getting into a accident, But then that would further piss me off.

As mentioned, Im trying to keep light about it. I don't have much of a choice. I have a book review, a paper, and a book to finish by monday, all for three different classes. I only I knew if the lifespan of the tranny, I could better assess if I have a month left before I lose on on those appraisals. Gah, I'll go back to reading. Its been a long day, indeed.
